Wound Medicine and Dermatology Fellowship

Empowering Future Skin & Wound Specialists

One in four American families has a loved one living with a chronic wound. Yet access to specialized wound and skin care remains limited, especially in post-acute and home-based settings. It’s time to change that.

United Wound Healing is proud to offer the nation’s first post-graduate fellowship dedicated exclusively to training advanced practice providers in wound management, dermatology, and limb preservation. This groundbreaking 12-month program equips Nurse Practitioners and Physician Associates with the clinical expertise, board certifications, and compassionate approach needed to lead in this vital specialty.

If you’re passionate about improving patient outcomes and serving medically complex and geriatric populations, this fellowship is your chance to make a meaningful impact.

Meet Your Fellowship Director

With over 24 years as a Certified Wound Specialist, Dr. Pamela Scarborough brings unparalleled expertise and passion to her role as Fellowship Director. Her career has been defined by a deep commitment to clinical excellence and mentorship—supporting healthcare professionals across disciplines as they pursue board certifications and advance their skills in wound management.

As a physical therapist with specialized training in wound care, diabetes education, and geriatric care, Dr. Scarborough understands the multidisciplinary nature of effective wound healing. Her approach combines clinical rigor with compassionate patient care, qualities she instills in every fellow who joins the program.

At United Wound Healing, Dr. Scarborough leads the fellowship program’s curriculum development, clinical training standards, and mentorship initiatives. Her vision is clear: to build a new generation of wound care specialists who can address the growing need for expert skin and wound management in underserved, post-acute, and home-based care settings.

“One in four American families is affected by chronic wounds,” says Dr. Scarborough. “This fellowship exists to ensure that every patient has access to the specialized, compassionate care they deserve—and to empower providers with the skills to deliver it.”
